Showerthought: I used to set all my posts by hand until a job in Bend changed my mind
For years, I'd dig every hole, set every post, and mix the concrete in a wheelbarrow. Then I took a big job on a sloped lot in Bend, Oregon, and rented a gas-powered auger and a mixer for the first time. We finished the whole 150-foot run in two days instead of four. Has anyone else made a switch like that, and what tool changed your speed the most?

My uncle's old crew in Spokane refused to use laser levels for years. They finally tried one on a big deck job and it cut their layout time in half, just like @logan561 with his nail gun. Sometimes the old way is just stubborn, not better.

Switched to a nail gun and never looked back.

Tried using a nail gun once and put three nails through a two by four. My thumb still has trust issues.
