I just saw a coworker get walked out for a joke he posted about the company's new logo on his private Instagram.
He lost a $65k a year job over a meme that got 12 likes, and now I'm terrified to post anything online, even with my accounts set to private.

Wait, they fired him for a private post? @wade250 is right, nothing is safe anymore.

That's brutal. Companies are watching everything now. Private accounts don't mean much, someone always screenshots. Seen it happen over a dumb tweet from five years ago. Gotta assume anything you post is public forever. Just not worth the risk anymore.

Read an article about a guy who lost a job offer because of old forum posts where he joked about calling in sick. They weren't even on his main profiles, just some random gaming site. Makes you realize the internet is one big permanent record now. I barely post anything personal anymore, just feels like leaving evidence everywhere. The whole thing has made social media pretty boring, to be honest.
