I used to post my real political views online, but not after what happened to my friend in Cincinnati.
He worked at a small marketing firm for five years. He posted a joke about a local election on his private X account on a Saturday. By Monday morning, his boss had seen it and fired him, saying clients were complaining. Now I scrub my accounts every month and never post anything about work or politics. It's just not worth the risk anymore. Has anyone else started locking down their social media because of a story like this?

Not really, I still post what I want and just don't connect my work life to my personal accounts.

Yeah, that's a scary story and honestly the new normal. I set all my profiles to private and use a nickname that isn't linked to my real name anywhere (which is a pain, but it works). It feels silly to have to do all that, but you're right, it's just not worth the hassle. I even go through my old likes and follows every few months to clean house.
