My coworker in Denver got canned for a 2 year old tweet about the company's coffee

He posted a joke on his private account back in 2022 calling the office coffee 'bitter bean water,' and someone screenshotted it and sent it to HR last week. Management said it violated their social media policy about not making the company look bad. I think it's insane to fire someone over an old, minor joke, but others say he should've known better than to post anything work-related. Has anyone seen a firing over something this small and dated?

Unbelievable. That company is hunting for reasons to let people go. I scrubbed my old accounts the second I got hired, because you just never know who's looking. My advice? Make everything private, use a fake name, and never, ever mention your job online. It's not worth the risk anymore.

Wow, that's a wild overreaction.

Take a breath and count to ten, seriously. I've seen people blow up over a spilled coffee and then feel awful later. Write down what you actually want to say before you hit send, because you can't take it back. It saves you from looking like the bad guy when you're just frustrated.

But what if someone really needs to hear the hard truth right away? I get where willowg88 is coming from, but sometimes waiting just lets a bad situation get worse. Kimfisher calling it a wild overreaction kinda proves the point that people see this stuff differently. I've found being direct in the moment, even if it's heated, can clear the air faster than a note you never send.
