My friend got let go from the Springfield library over a joke about overdue books

It happened last Tuesday, she posted a meme on her private account saying 'If you owe more than $50 in late fees, the library should send a repo man for your books.' Someone from work saw it, reported it to HR, and they said it made the library look aggressive. She was out the door by Friday. Is that really a fireable offense, or are we just too sensitive now?

Got to correct one thing. It wasn't a private account if someone from work saw it. That's the real problem.

Private accounts can still get found by people you know.

Exactly. Foster.jordan nailed it. If a coworker saw it, that account was never really private to begin with. People forget that "private" just means you approve followers, it doesn't make you invisible. Someone from your real life probably followed you and saw everything. The setting isn't a magic cloak.
