Spent $300 on a social media scrubber before a job hunt

It found a tweet from 2012 where I made a dumb joke about my old boss. I deleted it, but it made me wonder how many people get caught by stuff they forgot they posted. Do you think companies actually go back that far?

Used to think they didn't bother, but that's a wake-up call. They definitely dig if they're serious about you.

My cousin works in HR for a tech company, and she told me they have software that automatically flags stuff from over a decade back. It's not even a person digging at first, it's a bot scanning everything linked to your name. So yeah, they absolutely go back that far if the system finds it. It's kind of scary how a dumb joke from when you were a teenager can pop up now. I mean, that's why people say to lock everything down or delete old accounts. It feels unfair, but it's just part of the process now.
