Lost $30 on a fake 'professional' uniform cleaning service

I paid a local place in Phoenix $30 to steam and press my work polo before my first big meeting. They shrunk it so bad it looks like a crop top now. Anyone else get burned by a scammy service that was supposed to help you look good for work?

The real scam here is they probably used WAY too much heat on a fabric that wasn't meant for it. Most cheap work polos are a poly blend that melts before it shrinks, not cotton. You got hit with a double whammy - bad technique AND they likely didn't check the tag. Next time just buy a handheld steamer for $20 and do it yourself at home. That way you control the heat and don't end up with a belly shirt for your big meeting.

Yeah exactly what elliotm57 said about poly blends melting. I read this article about how dry cleaners and steamers can mess up synthetic fabrics way easier than cotton because the heat threshold is so much lower. Sounds like you got the worst of both worlds with bad technique and no tag check.

Hell, I used to think paying for cleaning was worth it, but you just changed my mind.
