Called me crazy for saying electric scooters are just for kids, then I rode my buddy's $600 one

I spent years making fun of grown adults zipping around on scooters, figured they looked ridiculous and couldn't handle real roads. Then last week my buddy let me ride his Segway Ninebot up a steep hill near downtown Austin and I hit 20 mph without breaking a sweat. Has anyone else eaten their words after trying something they swore was dumb?

Honestly never thought about it like that but the scooter part is just a tiny piece of a bigger setup someone's probably building. Maybe they're going for a whole retro cyberpunk look or something.
