Spent 45 minutes arguing with a thermostat that was just set to 'hold' mode

I was trying to troubleshoot why my living room was stuck at 74 degrees when it should have been cooling to 69. Turns out the previous homeowner had locked the schedule to hold temp and I wasted half my Sunday poking at dip switches before finding the manual buried in a drawer. Has anyone else fought a simple system for way longer than it deserved?

Oh man, this hurts to read because I've been there. My old Honeywell thermostat had this hidden "vacation hold" feature that I accidentally triggered while cleaning it, and for three days my AC just ran nonstop at 68 degrees. I kept reprogramming the schedule thinking I was messing up the times or something. Finally called my buddy who does HVAC and he laughed for a solid minute before telling me to hold down the up arrow and mode button at the same time to unlock it. Felt like such a dummy when I saw the little suitcase icon that had been there the whole time.

Wait, how do you accidentally trigger vacation mode just by wiping it down? I've never heard of that feature before. Ngl that sounds like a design flaw if a simple cleaning can mess with your whole AC schedule.

Yeah that's dumb design right there.
