Just realized my compass experiment took 3 days to debunk my own flat earth theory
I spent last Tuesday afternoon at a local park in Phoenix with a cheap compass and a string, trying to prove the horizon was flat. What I thought would be a 10 minute check turned into a 3 day headache because the needle kept drifting toward a nearby parking lot's metal fence. Has anyone else had their simple tests get wrecked by urban interference?

Oh man, that's rough. I once spent a whole afternoon trying to test the curvature of the earth using a laser pointer and a long straight road near my house. Turns out the road wasn't straight at all - it had a slight bend I didn't notice until the laser hit a mailbox a quarter mile away. By the time I figured out what was going on, I had a neighbor calling the cops thinking I was trying to shine lasers at their windows. So yeah, metal fences or bent roads, it's never as simple as you think it's going to be.

Man, that's rough, nothing worse than wasting three days on a test some parking lot metal wrecked for you.

Three days? Ouch. That is brutal. My last test got cancelled day one because some dude backed a minivan into the test van's bumper. Total mess of paperwork and rescheduling. Its just a massive waste of time that nobody can ever get back.
