Question about the 24 hour sun in Antarctica...
So I keep seeing videos from people who claim to be in Antarctica during summer and they show the sun circling overhead for 24 hours straight. That would be impossible on a flat earth model unless the sun is really small and close, moving in a circle above the plane. But then why do the compass readings and star patterns look totally different in the southern hemisphere compared to the north? Has anyone here actually tried to model how a small local sun would create those 24 hour days without breaking everything else we observe?

Oh GREAT, another "sun is just a tiny flashlight circling over us" theory. Let's just ignore how that tiny flashlight would have to change size and intensity EVERY SINGLE DAY to explain seasons, plus somehow magically illuminate the moon phases we all see every night. But SURE, the 24 hour antarctic sun is DEFINITELY just a hoax by the government, that makes MUCH more sense than a spinning ball in space.

Whoa, okay I've actually messed around with flat earth sun models before and it's a mess. I literally sat down with some graph paper and tried to plot how a small local sun would cast shadows and create the 24 hour day you see in Antarctic videos. The problem is you need that sun to be tiny and really close, but then it would have to change its orbit and distance constantly to keep the same angular size and light intensity. I tried to match it to actual sunrise/sunset times and moon phases and it just breaks, the math never works out the same twice. Just grab a compass and a sextant app for your phone next time you look at the southern sky, it'll save you a lot of headache.
