A builder in Denver once insisted I install a floating floor directly over his uneven slab, saying 'it'll settle fine,' and I still think about that.
I refused the job because that 3/4-inch dip across 8 feet would have caused nothing but squeaks and callbacks, so has anyone else had to walk away from a project where the prep was just plain wrong?
Come on, sometimes you gotta trust the process. A lot of floors do settle out just fine over time. You might have passed up an easy payday over being too careful.
