Appreciation post: A homeowner in Tacoma told me my cuts were 'too perfect' for her rustic vibe.

She wanted me to intentionally chip the edges of the reclaimed oak planks with a hammer. Anyone ever get a request that backwards?

My crew had to distress brand new cabinets with chains last year. The client's vision wins, even when it hurts a little.

We torched a perfect oak floor last month, @aaron_perry.

Yeah that's the worst part of the job sometimes, @aaron_perry. We had to take a belt sander to brand new shiplap to make it look old and worn. It felt so wrong at first but the client was over the moon with the final look. You just have to trust the process and remember they're paying for that specific style. The end result actually looked pretty cool once we got past the initial pain.
