Quit buying 'protein-packed' snacks after my stomach staged a protest.
I stopped grabbing those bars with bold protein claims. Turns out, the extra fiber they add is just chicory root, which wrecks digestion. Now I stick to plain nuts and feel much better. The label made it sound healthy, but it's a gut bomb.

Chicory root fiber agrees with my stomach, actually!

Wait, is chicory root fiber that deep? It's just fiber.

Seriously, calling chicory root fiber "just fiber" is a huge oversight. I had a protein bar with it once and spent the afternoon with awful stomach cramps. My cousin had to cut out a certain brand of granola because the chicory root in it made her so bloated she looked pregnant. It's a fermentable fiber, which means it can create a lot of gas in your gut. Companies sneak it into so many products labeled as high-fiber or low-carb. After a few bad reactions, I always scan ingredients lists now.

Honestly, you gotta look at the serving size too. They'll put like 15 grams of that stuff in one bar but tell you to only eat half. Who eats half a protein bar? So you get the full dose and your gut just gives up. Saw it in some keto cookies, whole bag said two servings. Yeah right.
