Can we talk about the push for crypto to fix everything?
I was at a meetup in Phoenix last week and a speaker said crypto would solve all our free speech problems in finance. He said it's the only way to keep speech truly free. In my experience, that's a big oversimplification. A blockchain ledger can't stop a social media company from banning your account for talking about certain coins. I've seen people get kicked off platforms even when they used crypto tips. The tech helps with money, but not the social rules around talking about it. Has anyone else found that the 'free speech' part still hits a wall with the big platforms, no matter what wallet you use?

Yeah, that speaker missed a huge point. Crypto can make a payment go through without a bank, but it does nothing about the rules of the platform you're using to talk. I got a warning on a big forum just for posting a link to a project's wallet address. The transaction itself is free, but your voice can still be shut off where people actually gather. The tech solves one problem but leaves the bigger social one completely untouched.

Hold up, you're looking at it wrong. The whole point is that the money part is now separate from the talking part. So what if a forum bans a link? The transaction already happened, no one can stop that. The social layer has to catch up, that's the next fight. The tech broke the bank's hold first, which was the biggest wall. Now we work on the rest.

Exactly, @the_thomas. Tech fixes pipes, not people.
