My buddy said he got a payment flagged just for talking about it online
We were having a beer at The Rusty Nail last Friday, and he told me his bank froze a $500 transfer to a crypto exchange. He said the support agent asked if he'd 'discussed the transaction on social platforms'. That hit different because it wasn't about the money, it was about the chat. Made me wonder how many other people have had a normal financial move get weird because of something they said. Anyone else run into this kind of thing?

Wow I read somewhere that banks are now using AI to scan public posts for keywords that might hint at fraud.

What if it's not about the money you're moving, but the people you're talking to. They might be watching certain groups or forums for keywords, not just your personal account. So your chat with a friend could get flagged just because of where you had it.

No kidding, my cousin had the same thing happen with a Venmo last month. They held up a simple rent payment because he joked about it being for "underground comics" in a group chat. Banks are definitely scanning more than just the numbers now. It's getting to where you have to watch what you say about your own money. Makes the whole thing feel pretty invasive.
