Realized I'd been ignoring the 'free speech' part of free speech finance for a good six months

Banks have a legal duty to watch for shady stuff, it's not just them being nosy. Those rules stop actual crime, even if they mess up sometimes with pizza money.

My buddy Mark got a warning from his bank last year for a Venmo note that just said "for the stuff." They froze his account for three days over five bucks. He had to call and explain it was just a pizza split with his roommate. Makes you wonder what they're actually tracking in there.

for the stuff" lmao that's brutal. My friend Jake once wrote "party favors" in a note for a $20 payment to his brother and his bank locked his account for a whole week. It was literally just beer and chips for a barbecue, took forever to get it sorted out.

Saw an article where banks flag certain keywords like "stuff" or "services" because they're super vague. The system is looking for patterns that might hide illegal sales, so even innocent notes can trip it. They'd rather freeze a small transaction than miss something big, which is wild when it's just pizza money.
