Can we talk about keeping eggs in the fridge door vs the main shelf?

I finally switched my eggs from the door to the middle shelf last month after seeing some food safety post. Always thought the door was fine since that's where the little molded slots are. But apparently that spot gets way more temp swings every time you open the fridge. I didn't think it mattered until I cracked open an egg that looked fine but smelled kinda off. Now the eggs sit on a shelf in the back and I've got an empty door slot that's driving me crazy lol. Has anyone else noticed a difference after moving their eggs or is this just overcautious nonsense?

Oh come on, "fridge industry propaganda" is a BIT much don't you think? I get what you're saying but has anyone actually bothered to test their own door temp vs. a shelf? I borrowed a little thermometer from my neighbor once and my door was 10 degrees warmer after opening it three times in an hour. Ten degrees! That's like begging for salmonella with quiche or whatever. So my question is, have you ever actually checked your door temp on a hot day? Or are you just flying blind and hoping for the best?

Kinda off" smell? That's just egg funk. Happens sometimes regardless of where you keep them. Honestly think the door thing is overblown. My eggs have lived in the door slots for years. Never had issues. Those molded slots exist for a reason, you know? Fridge door being more temp swingy just sounds like fridge industry propaganda to me lol.
