My mother in law said to keep eggs on the door, now they spoil in half the time

She swore by putting eggs in those door racks since the 1980s, said it was more convenient. I moved them to the main shelf three months ago and they last almost four weeks now. The door temps bounce around every time you open it, which ruins the yolks faster. Anyone else have a fridge habit they were taught that turned out to be wrong?

My mother in law just shrugged and said "it worked fine for 40 years" @the_olivia. Some people just dont want to hear it.

Oh, the door rack egg trap. Yeah, my mom did that too. So what did your mother in law say when you told her the eggs last longer on the shelf? Did she get defensive or just shrug it off? Mine used to insist the milk belonged in the door until she found a sour carton after a week.

Oh please, eggs actually last LONGER in the door since it's the warmest spot, @drewr15, your MIL was right all along!
