Why are people keeping open cans of tomato paste in the fridge...

I swear I see this in every fridge I open at friends' houses. That little metal can with plastic wrap on top... it's got that dark ring forming around the edges. My buddy Dave has one that's been in there for like 3 weeks now. Doesn't he know you can just spoon the rest into a glass jar? Or freeze it in ice cube trays? The metal leaches into the paste and it tastes like pennies. Am I the only one who notices this or do people just not care about rusty tomato flavor...

Man that dark ring thing is nasty. People are just lazy I guess.

Just scrape that ring off and the rest will be fine, that's all I ever do with mine.

Ha! @blake792 is right, but guilty as charged here - I've definitely been that guy with a wrinkly can of tomato paste in my fridge for a "few weeks" that turned into a science experiment.
