Everyone says you need to raise your rates every year. I haven't in 3 years and my business is fine.

Totally agree... heard "you have to change your oil every 3,000 miles" for years from so many people. My car's manual actually says 7,500 miles and the mechanic confirmed it. That old rule just won't die.

My dad still tells me to change it every 3k, and his car is from 1998. Ruby310 is right, it's just stuff that gets passed down forever. I followed that rule for years and wasted so much money on extra oil changes. The manual for my ten year old Honda says 10k miles with the good oil. Feels like unlearning a life hack that was never actually a hack.

Read a great article about how these old rules stick around because they feel safe. The writer called it "rule of thumb inertia" where people just keep doing what they're told. Makes you wonder what else we're all doing for no real reason.
