Vent: I used to laugh at the idea of using a project management tool for just me

For years I thought tools like Trello were just extra work for solo freelancers. Then I took on a big project with a client in Denver that had 12 different parts, and I started missing small details. I set up a free Trello board as a last try and it saved me from forgetting three separate follow-up emails. Has anyone else had a tool they thought was silly become a must-have?

Oh man, that's so true. I had the same thing happen with a simple spreadsheet (of all things). I started tracking all my client calls and deadlines in one place, and it stopped me from double-booking myself twice last month. It feels silly until you see that list of everything you'd forget otherwise.

My husband laughed when I started a grocery list on the fridge, but now he adds to it. It's the same idea. We try to keep everything in our heads until the system breaks. A basic list, whether it's for food or work calls, just takes the weight off. It's like giving your brain a sticky note so it can focus on the actual thinking part.

That bit about "giving your brain a sticky note" is exactly right, @angelaw78. I see this everywhere, where people fight simple tools until they finally give in and feel the relief. It's not about being organized, it's about making room to actually live.

Wait, but isn't a sticky note a physical thing you actually write on? Your grocery list sounds more like a permanent system, not a temporary note you throw away. Seems like you built a real tool, not just a reminder.
