Walked into that new taco spot on Harbor and felt like I was back in 1998
I stopped by El Rinconsito last Friday around noon. The whole place had that old school tile and the menu was just handwritten on a whiteboard. No QR codes, no tablets at the table. It was refreshing honestly. Tacos were $3 each and came with fresh salsa in those little plastic cups. Has anyone else noticed that more places here are trying to go back to the old style instead of being fancy?

Hang on, @elliotm57, but the whiteboard menu made me think about something else. It probably means the owner doesn't have a fancy point of sale system or a website, so they're saving money on that software subscription and putting it into the meat. I bet the al pastor is getting cooked on a real trompo instead of a flat top, which is why it tastes better than half the overpriced spots in this city. That old school look is just a side effect of them focusing on the actual food and not the frills.

Whiteboard menu means they're too busy perfecting that trompo to worry about updating Yelp... sounds like a solid trade-off to me.
