My cousin thought she could fix her dresser with nail polish remover.
The finish melted right off, and now she wants me to fix it. Told her some DIY hacks are just disasters waiting to happen.

My neighbor tried cleaning her patio stones with bleach last summer. The color variation completely disappeared, leaving one weird bright patch.

That sounds like a permanent fix for a temporary problem. Did she ever try to fix it, or is that bright patch just part of the patio's story now? I've seen similar things happen with pressure washers on old brick. Sometimes the stain is just part of the material, and stripping it leaves a ghost.
