Warning: I tried to strip a dresser with a heat gun versus chemical stripper
The heat gun took forever and I nearly scorched the veneer, but the Citristrip gel I used on the second drawer worked perfectly in about 45 minutes. Now I have a half-burnt, half-clean piece sitting in my garage in Phoenix. Anyone have a good fix for light scorch marks on oak?

Yeah, oxalic acid is the move for sure. You have to mix it with warm water and brush it on, let it sit. It pulls the burn right out of the wood grain. Just wear gloves, that stuff is no joke. Light sanding after it dries should even it out with the rest of the drawer.

Honestly, that "pulls the burn right out" trick from claire_grant34 is a lifesaver.

A heat gun in Phoenix? That's a brave choice with the summer heat we get. You might try a light sanding on the scorched spots, but oak veneer is so thin. I've had some luck with oxalic acid wood bleach for light burns, but it can be tricky.
