My uncle told me in 2015 that remote work would kill small towns, but our main street is busier than ever.

He was so sure that if people could work from anywhere, they'd all leave for big cities or cheap countries. I live in a town of about 15,000 in Michigan. Instead, we got a bunch of remote workers moving *in* from Chicago and Detroit because they wanted more space and a slower pace. Three new coffee shops opened in the last two years, and the old hardware store expanded. It totally flipped his prediction. Has anyone else seen their local area change in a way that went against a common future prediction?

Honestly thought the same thing, but my town got way busier too.

Guess my town missed the memo on getting popular. It's so quiet I could mow my lawn at 3pm on a Tuesday and not bother a soul. Kinda nice, but also makes me wonder if we're doing something wrong.

Remember when quiet towns were the norm, not the exception. Ivan_murphy80 is right about places getting busier, but I'd take your peaceful Tuesday lawn mowing over traffic any day. Sounds like your town is doing something very right, actually.
