Serious question, does anyone think we'll still have cashiers in 20 years?
I was at a grocery store in Dallas last week, and the self-checkout froze up for 15 minutes straight. The one employee there just shrugged and said 'system's down, try another one.' Made me think we're heading for a future where nobody knows how to fix anything. What's the backup plan when all the machines fail?

Heard a tech guy say the backup plan is just more machines, which sounds like a terrible plan.

Ugh, I saw an article about this. They said some stores are already testing no-checkout tech, you just walk out. But yeah, what happens when that glitches? Total chaos.

Right? I can just picture it, like the sensors mess up and suddenly you're charged for three gallons of milk you never even picked up. Or worse, it just lets someone walk out with a full cart for free. Feels like they're solving a problem (long lines) by making a whole new, way bigger problem.
