Bought a 'smart' air purifier that basically just has a light show

I spent $180 on this thing after seeing a bunch of reviews say it was quiet and effective. Turns out the app is broken half the time, and the only thing that really works is the colored lights that change for no reason. Has anyone found a decent one that just cleans the air without all the junk?

My buddy Steve got one that was supposed to sync with his phone. It would just randomly start flashing red like a police car at 2 AM. He unplugged it after the third time and now uses a basic box fan with a filter taped to it. Says it moves more air anyway.

Feels like everything needs an app and a light show now. My coffee maker started emailing me, and honestly, I just want it to make coffee.
