Physical wear is the big one specs never talk about. A hinge feels solid day one, but what about after 200 opens. Batteries can look fine on paper but really show their drain pattern after several full cycles. That week of real use finds the stuff that slowly breaks, not the stuff that instantly fails.

Man the "week of real use" thing is so true. I used to think if it worked day one it was good, but you're right, that's when the slow breakdowns start showing up.
