PSA: A delivery guy showed me a garage door trick I'll never forget

I was stuck with my garage door springs half off, and a delivery driver saw me. He used a ladder and a clamp to hold the door in place while I worked. It kept me from getting hurt and we had a good laugh. Do you have stories about helpful strangers around your garage?

Heard a similar story from my cousin about his garage door spring breaking. A neighbor driving by stopped and showed him how to use locking pliers on the track to keep it from falling. They rigged it up together in maybe ten minutes, totally saved the day. Makes you remember most people are pretty decent when you need a hand.

Seems like a bad idea to mess with garage springs. Aren't they supposed to be handled by experts? Just asking for trouble otherwise.
