Rant: I thought those magnetic tool holders were just a gimmick
My brother gave me a 36-inch one for Christmas and I finally put it up last weekend. I was shocked at how well it keeps my wrenches and pliers organized and off the bench. Anyone have a good trick for keeping the smaller sockets from sliding down?

Right? I thought the same thing until I tried one. For the small sockets, I just got a cheap magnetic strip from the hardware store and cut it into little squares with tin snips. Works Perfect.

My old socket tray had the same sticky mess problem.

Yeah that's a solid idea from @emeryj66. I just used some double sided tape on mine, but the magnet strip is way smarter.

Totally get the double sided tape thing. I did that for years before I saw the magnet trick. It always felt like a temporary fix that just left sticky gunk on everything. The moment I switched to a magnetic strip was a real game changer for keeping those small sockets in order. No more digging through a pile in the drawer.

Magnetic strips are a total game changer. Cut up a cheap one for the small sockets. Works like a charm.
