Appreciation post: the $20 air purifier that fixed my kitchen smoke problem
After 3 years of my gas stove setting off the smoke alarm every time I seared a steak, I finally tried one of those cheap Levoit 200S purifiers sitting right on the counter. Cost me $20 on Amazon and the alarm hasn't gone off once since I started running it while cooking. Anyone else find a simple fix like this that made their gas stove more bearable?
Oh man, that's awesome... My friend Jenna had the exact same problem with her apartment. She lives in this old building with a tiny kitchen and the smoke detector would go off if she even thought about toasting a bagel. She tried one of those fancy range hoods but her landlord wouldn't let her install it. So she got a little floor fan from Target and aimed it at the smoke detector while she cooked... she just runs it on low and points it up at the ceiling. Works like a charm and cost her like fifteen bucks.
Wait, does she just tape the fan to the counter or something? That sounds way easier than me taking the batteries out every time I cook bacon in my place.
