I used to roll my eyes at Boomers talking about job loyalty, but my uncle's story flipped my script
For years, I thought Boomers were just out of touch for sticking with one company forever. Then my uncle explained how his pension and benefits built up over decades, letting him retire early. He said changing jobs back then meant losing all that, unlike now with 401k portability. Seeing his secure retirement made me get why they value loyalty so much. It's not about being afraid to switch, it's about different rules in their time. Lmao, I guess I judged without knowing the full picture. Now I see each generation plays the hand they're dealt.

Ran into my buddy Mike at the diner... he was telling me how his grandpa's pension let him retire at 60. Sounds just like @grant_knight79's story about his dad. Makes you get why they stuck around so long.

Watching my dad retire with a full pension from one company hit me the same exact thought. Makes total sense now.

Yeah, I was the same way judging before I knew the rules. Now I'm just hoping my 401k doesn't pull a disappearing act.
