A picnic joke about quartzite flipped my view on dull stones

I used to skip over common rocks because they seemed boring. During a family picnic, my cousin held up a piece of quartzite and called it a diamond. We all had a good laugh, but my aunt, who knows geology, told us how it forms from sandstone. Hearing that process made the rock seem full of history. Now I give all plain stones a second look.

Glad you found beauty in something most people would just walk past.

Seriously, that whole idea hits different. Why do you think so many people just stop seeing the small stuff around them? Like, I always wonder if it's because we're all moving too fast or just glued to our phones. Feels like you have to make a real choice to actually look at things, you know? Makes the whole day better when you do.

Nah, not buying it. That stuff is still just a rock. You can stare at a plain stone all day and it won't change your life. People miss small stuff because most of it isn't worth seeing. We focus on what matters. Not every little thing has some deep story. Sometimes a boring rock is just a boring rock.
