Never trusted electric buffers for fine work. Had no choice on a Friday afternoon. Worked like a charm.

How about that, always good when the tool you doubted comes through.

Always good when the tool comes through" is where I kind of disagree. If I already doubted it, that first impression usually means it's unreliable. Sure it might work this time, but I'll never really trust it for the next job, you know? That doubt just sticks with you.

Read a study once about how first impressions with gear can mess with your head long-term. It said even if something works later, that initial doubt plants a seed of distrust. Kinda like what @skyler945 said, but it's more about the mental hurdle than the tool itself.
