How one comment from a retired accountant changed my extreme couponing system entirely
Last month I was bragging at a family dinner about my $47 grocery haul that should have cost $200. My aunt's neighbor Bob, this quiet old guy, just said 'you know you're leaving money on the table not pairing manufacturer coupons with store apps, right?' I had been doing paper coupons only for 3 years and ignoring digital ones. Now I use the Target Circle app with paper coupons on the same items and my savings jumped from 60% to nearly 80%. Has anyone else had a similar blind spot that someone pointed out?

$47 for a $200 haul is impressive but Bob just casually dropped a truth bomb that probably saved you another $30 a trip. I ignored Target Circle for like six months because I thought it was just another app cluttering my phone. Now I feel like an idiot for manually clipping coupons in the Sunday paper while ignoring free digital deals that take two seconds.

Is it really that serious though? I mean saving 60% is already pretty solid, you're still way ahead of most people at the grocery store. People act like you're throwing money in the trash if you're not using every single digital coupon and app out there. I say if you are already getting 60% off, you are doing just fine and that extra 20% is nice but its not life changing. Sometimes the hassle of juggling four different store apps and paper coupons and manufacturer rebates just isnt worth the extra few bucks you save.

100% agree. I went full coupon mode for like three months and honestly I was spending way too much time scanning receipts and checking apps for maybe $12 a week. At some point you gotta ask yourself if your time is worth that.
