My buddy told me my "loyalty points" strategy was stupid and he was right
I used to just rack up points on one card for years, but he showed me his spreadsheet where he churned 4 sign-up bonuses in 6 months and got like $1,200 in free flights. Has anyone else had a friend call them out on a bad habit that actually saved them cash?

Gibson is right that churning takes work, but people act like tracking a few dates is impossible. Miss one payment and you're out real cash, not just points. I've seen guys lose whole weekends trying to optimize a $300 bonus. Is the stress really worth more than just using one card and forgetting about it?

Ngl I read somewhere churners average like 10 cards a year. That's a side gig for sure.

Hold up though. Points churning is a job not a hobby. You gotta track six different expiration dates and minimum spends. One missed payment or annual fee you forget about and your "free" flight cost you 80 bucks. My buddy did the same thing to me. Got all excited about his Southwest companion pass. Then he missed a payment by two days and they clawed back 15,000 points. He was pissed for a month. Your one card strategy is chill. So what if it takes longer. Less hassle.
