Walking through old Spanish churches made me rethink the Inquisition

Its harshness is often overstated in popular history.

Exactly, and it's wild how we judge the past by today's rules. Standing in those massive, quiet spaces, you start to feel the sheer weight of their world, not ours. They were dealing with huge fears about keeping their society and faith together. Makes you wonder what future people will get totally wrong about our time, you know? History is never as simple as the scary stories.

Honestly future us will look just as weird.

Your point about future people getting us wrong is so true lol. They'll probably see our screen time as pure addiction, missing how it helped us feel less alone in a busy world. It's another case of judging without the full context.

Tbh even stuff like group chats or checking in on family from far away, that's all through screens now. They might just see the hours logged and call it a waste, not get how a dumb meme kept someone's day from being total garbage. We know it's a mix of zoning out and actually feeling close to people.
