Had a rough therapy session in the old downtown coffee shop that changed how I handle my estrogen shots
I was sitting at Mudhouse on Main Street last Tuesday after a tough week and my therapist texted me to check in, which got me thinking about how much I used to dread my weekly injections. We ended up talking about setting a consistent schedule with alarms and rewards, and it's honestly made a huge difference in my mood stability. Has anyone else found that changing the environment or routine around their hormone treatments helped with the mental side of things?

That part about "changing the environment" really hit home for me. I used to do my T shots in the bathroom and it felt so clinical and cold. Moved it to my bedroom with a specific playlist and a little ritual with my cat nearby. Totally changed the mental game for me, made it feel less like a chore and more like taking care of myself.

Wait... am I the only one who actually prefers the cold, clinical bathroom setup? I feel like all that ritual and playlist stuff would just make me overthink it more. Bathroom's quick, no distractions, in and out in two minutes flat. My cat's not allowed anywhere near my shot stuff anyway, last time she batted the alcohol swab across the floor like it was a toy. Maybe I'm missing out on some emotional bonding moment with my HRT, but honestly I just want to get it over with and move on with my day.

Oh man, the bathroom was my old spot too for my E shots, and I swear I flinched every single time the tile floor made that cold echo. I switched to doing them on my couch while watching the same dumb reality show episode over and over, and somehow the needle just doesn't feel as scary when I'm distracted by people arguing about who stole a chicken. Speaking of rewards, I started treating myself to a fancy fruit snack right after, which is honestly just me eating a fruit snack anyway but now I call it medicine so it feels productive. My cat just stares at me from across the room like I'm performing a magic trick with a needle and a tiny bottle, which is probably more entertaining than my actual injection routine.
