Why do antidepressants get all the press when a simple thyroid check can change your whole mood in weeks

I read a study from the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology saying 40% of people with treatment-resistant depression actually have undiagnosed thyroid issues, so which side wins out for you, pushing through with psych meds or getting your TSH levels checked first?
