Appreciation post: my math teacher who stayed after school every Tuesday
Our school's tutoring program only runs on Thursdays, but my algebra teacher Mr. Chen started staying after class on Tuesdays for anyone who needed extra help. I was struggling with quadratic equations and failed my first test with a 54%. After going to his Tuesday sessions for 5 weeks straight, I pulled my grade up to an 82% on the final. Has anyone else had a teacher who went way beyond what they had to do?

Mr. Chen sounds like a solid teacher. I used to think teachers just showed up for the paycheck until my history teacher Mr. Reyes stayed after school to help me prep for the state exam and I went from a D to a B. That changed my whole view on what extra effort can do for a kid who's falling behind.

Is it really that deep though? Like, great for him helping you pass a math test, but it's literally his job to teach.

Got one of my crew members through his GED and I still make sure he knows that stuff matters. It's the difference between just clocking in and actually caring.
