Question about how long it actually takes to fix a broken friendship
So I had this huge fight with my best friend since 7th grade over something stupid, like who forgot to pick up tickets for a concert in March. I thought we'd make up in a week, but it took me three full months of awkward texts and two separate coffee meetups to even get back to normal. The actual talking-through part was just one 45-minute conversation, but the waiting and guessing part was the real killer lol. Has anyone else had a friendship repair that took way longer than you expected, or is it just me?
Know exactly what you mean... I had a falling out with my old college buddy over whose turn it was to pay for pizza delivery and it took us like four months to fully fix things. The worst part was we'd both go to the same bar every Friday and just pretend the other person didn't exist. Finally snapped one night and sent him a long text saying I was dumb and sorry and he replied with a picture of a half-eaten pizza. Now we laugh about it but that wait was brutal... three months for you must have felt like forever. Funny how something so small can turn into this huge awkward monster.
My cousin had this falling out with her college roommate over a missing hairdryer (which sounds so dumb now) and it took them almost six months to speak normally again. The weird part was they'd see each other at mutual parties and just stand on opposite sides of the room making small talk with other people. Finally at a New Year's Eve gathering they both got a little tipsy and ended up crying in the kitchen for like twenty minutes. Now they're fine but I swear that six months of silence was way more stressful than the actual fight ever was.
