Pro tip: That "100% pure" label on cheap syrup might be lying to you
I was talking to a guy at the farmer's market last Saturday (he runs a small sugar bush up in Vermont) and he told me something that made me mad. He said some of those big store brands mix in a tiny bit of corn syrup but still call it "pure maple" because the rules are fuzzy for flavored syrups. I checked three bottles at the grocery store after that and two had "natural flavor" added as the second ingredient. Has anyone else caught a brand sneaking in extra stuff like this?

Yeah the "natural flavor" thing is such a scam, I grabbed a bottle of "pure maple" at Walmart last week and flipped it over and saw that same garbage. It's everywhere now, feels like you can't trust anything on the shelf unless you go straight to a farm.

Dude yes, I bought a bottle at Target last month that said "100% pure" right on the front and when I got home I saw "natural maple flavor" as the third ingredient. Felt so ripped off, like who even checks that stuff before pouring it on pancakes?
