I finally refused to work on a campaign that uses scare tactics... boss says it's just good marketing.

Wondering if your boss has ever seen a scare ad totally blow up like @david_ramirez mentioned. Does he ever think about the long term damage that does to a brand's reputation, or is it just about the quick win? I feel like people see through that stuff way more now... makes them hate the brand forever. You gotta ask if any of your other coworkers are feeling the same way about these tactics.

Brands never realize the hate stays forever (even when the ad stops running).

Ever see those political ads that try to make you scared of like, trash collection changes? A local guy ran one saying his opponent would make our streets filthy, and it just made everyone in my neighborhood laugh and call him desperate. He ended up losing by a huge margin. Sometimes that stuff just blows up in their face.

Show him numbers on how scare ads hurt customer trust long term, then find one other person at work who agrees with you to back you up.
