Sounds like a good guide. My version of fun facts would just be pointing at random trees and saying "that one's probably older than me" before getting distracted by a weird shaped rock. Wouldn't keep anyone's interest for long, let alone a whole hike. My sister would just sigh and walk ahead. I'd mix up basic stuff like whether a squirrel is a chipmunk.

Totally! It feels like everyone's trying to be an expert now instead of just enjoying the moment.

Yeah I used to mix up squirrels and chipmunks all the time too... until someone pointed out chipmunks have stripes. Now I feel like a genius when I spot one. It's the little wins.

Got laughed at once for pointing at a chipmunk and yelling 'squirrel!' Now I check for stripes every time. It's like a tiny game I play with myself. Makes walks way more fun. Who knew such a small detail could change everything? What's your go-to way to tell them apart?
