Question about ethical taxidermy: Did a piece I bought last week change my mind?
I was always skeptical of taxidermy as a career, thought it was creepy and unethical. But last week I bought a fox mount from a guy in Portland who only uses animals that died naturally or from car strikes, and the craftsmanship was incredible. Has anyone else flipped their opinion on a weird job after seeing the real deal?

Understand that "ethical" taxidermy still means an animal had to die for decoration.

I've got a crow skull on my shelf I found on a hike. Bird died naturally, nothing fancy. People get so worked up over bones and feathers man. It's just nature recycling itself, not a crime scene.

Gotta disagree a bit though. I mean yeah a skull you found is totally different from killing something for decoration. That crow was already dead, you're just appreciating what nature left behind.
