Had to choose between a manual egg separator and a fancy one at a garage sale for $1 each
Picked the manual one because I thought the fancy one looked too complicated. Took me 15 minutes to separate 3 eggs and got yolk all over my counter. The fancy one was just a little plastic cup with a slit in it. Anyone else ever overthink a simple device and regret it?
Bought a garlic press once that looked like some kind of medieval torture device. Couldn't figure out how to clean it so I threw it away after one use.
...and that's exactly why I switched to just smashing cloves with the flat side of my Chef's knife. Way less cleanup and I get to pretend I'm in a cooking show (which is pretty funny since I burn toast half the time).
