Hot take: my neighbor's DIY 'squirrel-proof' bird feeder improved his yard in 2 weeks

I was skeptical when he bolted a spinning plastic tube to a pole last month, but after 14 days the squirrels gave up and the finches moved in. Has anyone else found a cheap setup that actually keeps those little jerks off without breaking the bank?

Read somewhere that peppermint oil near the base works too.

Honestly, what most people miss is that the squirrels actually train each other. Once a few learn it's impossible, they spread the word somehow. I've seen it happen with a simple hanging tray feeder that swings.
