My half-baked idea last week to reheat pizza with a hair straightener actually worked.

I was drunk at 2am last Tuesday staring at cold pizza and my normal microwave just makes it rubbery. So I grabbed my roommate's flat iron from the bathroom and clamped a slice between the plates for like 30 seconds. It came out crispy on the bottom and the cheese melted perfect. But now I'm wondering if this is actually genius or just gross because that straightener has definitely touched hair product residue. My buddy says I'm a madman and I should just buy a toaster oven. But a toaster oven takes like 10 minutes and this took 30 seconds. Has anyone else tried weird kitchen hacks that sort of work but also feel wrong?

Wait, you used your roommate's flat iron without asking? That's honestly the part that's sending me, not the pizza hack itself. I mean the hair straightener thing is kind of brilliant, I'll give you that, but have you seen what builds up on those plates after a few weeks of heat protectant sprays and dry shampoo? That's like eating pizza with a side of silicone and fragrance oils. I guess if you wipe it down really good first with some alcohol it's probably fine, but the whole idea of someone unknowingly grabbing their flat iron for hair and finding pizza grease on it later is breaking my brain a little.

Huh, you know what, I never really thought about what's actually on those flat iron plates. I've used mine to crisp up a quesadilla before and just wiped it with a wet paper towel after. Now I'm thinking about all the dry shampoo and product gunk I've probably been eating. Kinda wish you hadn't brought that up honestly.

Yeah just wipe it with rubbing alcohol first, you'll be fine.
