Found a weird trick for sticky keyboard keys from a guy at the laundromat

He told me to dab a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and run it along the edges of the sticky key, and my 2007 laptop spacebar works like new now. Has anyone else fixed old peripherals with stuff you already have at home?

Oh man, I gotta gently push back on one thing here. Rubbing alcohol is great for cleaning electronics, but you gotta make sure it's the 90% or higher kind, not the 70% stuff with more water in it. The lower percentage ones can leave residue or take forever to dry, which isn't great for your laptop. Other than that though, yeah that laundromat guy probably knows his stuff from fixing coin machines or something.

Hold up though, does anyone actually check the percentage before buying rubbing alcohol? I grabbed a bottle from the grocery store last week and didn't even look - just assumed it was all the same stuff. Now I'm worried I've been wiping stuff down with watered-down junk.
